  • Matched pairs
    • this is a form of independent measures design. If we cannot use a repeated measures design it is sometimes possible to match every participant in one group with a very similar person in the other group. Participants can be matched on variables which are considered to be relevant to the experiment in question
  • Matched pairs Adv + Dis
    • Adv = reduced individual differences between groups. This is because they have been matched to their conditions. So we know that the groups are very similar before we start.
    • Dis = time consuming + expensive
