  • Using a source and own knowledge. Quotes: small quote analysis directly from source, short snappy quotes. Own knowledge = knowledge from revision not from source can be inspired by other questions (8 marks)
  • Why did a thing happen (cause - outcome) Use 'this meant that' or 'this led to'. Focus more on cause and what came before than what came after. Explain progression, take reader through what happened and why it happened. Own knowledge (6 marks)
  • Comparing 2 sources. Refer to them by their letters directly. Only compare the what the sources say no own knowledge. Look for similarities and differences. Look for contrasts not A said this and B didn't. Compare + contrast not what is in one and not in another. 3 marks for identifying + proving similarities. 3 marks for identifying + proving differences. 1 of each similarity and difference gets the marks. 2 marks for judgement weigh up which is bigger
