Nuclei and ventricles

Cards (23)

  • lateral and 3rd ventricles communicate via interventricular foramen of monroe
  • 4th and 3rd communicate via cerebral aqueduct of sylvius
  • 4th ventricle communicates with the subrachnoid space via foramen of luscka and magendie
  • csf isn made by choroid plexus in the ventricles travels to subarachnoid space via foramen of luscka and magendie and reabsorbed by arachnoid granulations and drained by dural venous sinuses
  • occulomotor and trochlear nerve are in teh midbrain
  • trigeminal abducent facial vestibulocochlear are in tthe pons
  • vagus glossopharyngeal accessory spinal hypoglossal are in the medulla
  • pineal gland for meltonin secretion and circadian rhythm
  • superior colliculus for moving eyes to stimuli
  • inferior colliculus for hearing
  • nucleus of accessory spinal nerve is in the spinal cord
  • nucleus of trigeminal facial abducens and vestibulocochlear are in the pons
  • nucleus of the vagus hypoglossal glossopharyngeal are in the medulla
  • nucleus of the occulomotor and trochlear are in the pons
  • olfactory nerve and optic nerve are above the pons
  • nucleus tractus solitarius for visceral sensory information like taste baroreceptors gut distention plays role in vomitting
  • nucleu ambigus is for motor inervation of the pharynx larynx upper esophagus ( swallowing and palate elevation)
  • dorsal motor nucleus sends parasympathetic fibers to heart lungs and upper gi via vagus
  • superior colliculus cerebral aqueduct red nucleus substansia nigra crus cerebri and cranial nerve 3 nucleus and fibers are found in the midbrain
