  • When carrying out observations - need to record behaviour in a consistent and measurable way
  • Use coding = giving behaviour a specific code
• OST - two different ways:

  1. Event sampling - wait for a change in events
  2. Time sampling - observer records behaviour in a given time frame
• Generalisation

  • Applying findings from a study to the target population
