  • Galen had dissected animals but not humans so there were many errors in his work.
  • Harvey (17th century) disproved Galen's idea that blood was produced from the liver.
    He proved that the blood circulated through the body.
  • The Printing press made it so surgeon's works could be spread to other surgeons.
  • Edward Jenner(18th century) created the first vaccine, for smallpox.
  • John snow (19th century) proved that cholera was water based and not through miasma. He also created the chlorophyll inhaler.
  • Louis Pasteur (19th century) created germ theory, and proved germs caused decay instead of chemicals.
  • Robert Koch(19th century) applied Pasteur's Germ theory to human diseases. He proved that specific bacteria were responsible for a specific disease from experimenting on animals.
  • Paul Ehrlich (19th century) discovered magic bullets that would stain and kill a specific type of bacteria.
  • Alexander Fleming(19th century) left petri dishes open. Mould grew on one and he noticed germs near the mould had been killed.
  • Florey and Chain (19th century) tested on a human with penicillin vaccine, they then made the government mass produce it in WW2.
