    • Law of conservation of mass:
      No atoms are made or lost during a chemical reaction, so the mass of reactants and products is the same
    • A 'decrease' in mass could indicate a gas was made during the reaction and has escaped from the container
    • An 'increase' in mass could indicate that gas from the air is reacted, so its mass is added to the container
