• Nazi land gains from 1935-39 had some aims stated in Mein Kampf and many speeches and meetings
• First 3 countries taken over originally taken by TofV and Mein Kampf stated he wanted to reverse TofV and achieve Lebensraum
• Nazi unpreparedness suggested that though ill-prepared some preparations still planned but brought ahead by other factors
• Hitlers meeting with commander (1933)

  • ’battle against Versailles’ violation of TofV fought through military
  • ’national service must be reintroduced’ conscription (1935)
  • ’the conquest of living space in the east‘
• Built up army when came into power and introduced conscription openly from 1935 (defying TofV)
• 4 year plan stressed need to militarise, and aims unachievable without war (e.g. Lebensraum)
• Made speeches about going to war (Berlin, 1938)
