Cards (5)

  • longitude waves travel/vibrate forwards and backwards
  • Bluetooth
    • Bluetooth uses short wavelength radio signals and so does not need a ‘line of sight
    • Bluetooth uses a system of ‘frequency-hopping’ to reduce interference with Wi-Fi as this uses similar frequencies
    • Frequency - hopping limits data loss
  • Bluetooth uses radio waves
advan - connect to more than one device
disadvan - transmit over short range, low bandwidth
  • Infrared
    • Uses a shorter wavelength/higher frequency signal than Bluetooth
    • Used for connecting low powered devices together (i.e. television remote).
    • Advan - does not interfere with other devices, Uses a high frequency so gives better and clearer communications.
    • disadvan - Affected by the direct sunlight, Can only operate over a short distance, •Only works with one device at a time
  • Wifi uses radio/microwave waves
    • advan - pass through walls
    • disadvan - uses more power so shorter battery life on connected devices
