The particle model and motion in gases

Cards (4)

  • Solids :
    Strong forces of attraction
Particles close together in a fixed regular arrangement
Dont have much energy so they vibrate
  • Liquids :
    Weaker forces of attraction
Particles are close together but can move past each other
    Irregular arrangements
Move in random directions at low speed
  • Gases :
No forces of attraction between the particles
Have more energy then liquids and solids
Free to move and constantly moving with random directions and speeds
  • Colliding gas particles create pressure
