different views about mission

• some Christian groups do not engage in mission in any of the ways

  • Quakers: believe God speaks directly to the hearts of people so evangelism is wrong as it interferes with God's work in the lives of individuals
• some groups put more emphasis on one type of evangelism over the others:

  • Salvation Army: sees it's own mission as serving the poor + needy, with majority effort in caring for the homeless + vulnerable
• some groups see mission as unimportant:

  • the Exclusive Brethren: believe the world is contaminated by sin + in order to be saved, they must cut themselves off from mainstream society as much as possible - making mission impossible
