6 ARTICLES OF FAITH - SUNNI ISLAM

• 1. Tawhid - Belief in One God

  • Absolute faith in the oneness of God
• 2. Malaikah - Belief in Angels

  • Angels were the first creation of God
  • God communicates by passing messages to the prophets via angels
  • Angels tell Allah about the behaviour of humans
• 3. Kutub - Belief in Holy Books

  • Holy books of Islam should be respected
  • Especially the Quran which is the unchanged word of Allah, revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
• 4. Nubuwwah - Belief in the Prophets

  • Muslims believe Prophets should be respected but never worshiped and that Allah communicated to them via the angels
• 5. Akhirah - Belief in the Day of Judgement and the afterlife

  • Muslims believe life on Earth is a test
  • After they die they would be judged by God and either sent to Paradise or Hell
• 6. Al-Qadr - Belief in Predestination

  • Muslims believe that Allah has decided everything that happens
  • Muhammad (pbuh) said to his followers: "There is not one amongst you who has not been allotted his seat in Paradise or Hell"
