    When the disputing parties try to reach a compromise

    Negotiation involves the two parties to the dispute communicating directly with each other in a attempt to resolve their issues without the need for court action.

    Any method of their choice, e.g. face to face meetings, telephone calls, or emails

    The parties must concentrate on the issue(s) at hand, and put their personalities aside. A compramise is required, and a solution will be agreed by the parties

    Lawyers are not needed, and as such it is the cheapest form of ADR
