    • eg beta blockers(stop increasing heart rate) diuretics(decreased blood volume by reduced volume of water reabsorbed in blood)
    • risks= headaches, drowsiness, cough
  • statins
    • lower blood cholestrol, LDL conc
    • reduced risk of atheroma formation
    • risks= muscle pain, liver damage
  • anticoagulants
    • reduced blood clotting
    • decreased likihood of blockage
    • risks- excessive bleeding, fainting, swelling
  • platelet inhibitors
    decreased blood clotting
    prevents clumping together of platelets eg aspirin
