• Factors that affect population change: births, deaths, immigration, and emigration.
• Immigrant: a person who moves into another country
• Immigration rate: The number of people moving into a country out of a 1000 people
• Emigrant: a person who moves out of an area
• Emigration rate: The number of people moving out of a country out of 1000 people.
• Natural increase rate: Birth rate minus death rate
• Net migration rate: the immigration rate minus the emigration rate
• Population growth rate: the natural increase rate plus the net migration rate.
• Doubling time: the length of time for a countries population to double at a particular population growth rate
• Dependency load: the percentage of the population that is non-working. Ages younger than 15 and order than 65.
