  • changes occured in the 18/19th cents in the industry that greatly impacted nearly all of britain. at the start of the 18th cent, british industries were normally small scale and pretty basic. most textile production was, for example, centred on small workshops in spinners' homes: a "cottage industry". changes in agriculture brought better machinery and less people were needed to farm. this encouraged people to the cities to work in newly emerging factories.
