  • Steps 1-5
    1. Positive construction - tell suspect evidence confirms they are guilty
    2. Theme development - develop themes that try and explain why they're guilty
    3. Handling denials - don't let the suspect deny the crime
    4. Overcoming objections - objections from suspect should be turned into ways of making them acknowledge guilt
    5. Procurement and retention of suspects attention - use personal space and eye contact si they don't withdraw and have a chance to think about punishment
  • Steps 6-9
    6. Handling suspect's passive mood - suspect may feel defeated. Use a sympathetic approach to develop a theme that they're upset because of guilt
    7. Preventing an alternative question - give two alternative scenarios about the crime they have committed
    8. Get the suspect to make a full confession with full details
    9. Suspect writes a full account of the crime
