The digestive system

• the digestive system: mouth to the oesphagus then to the stomach then to the small intestine then to the large intestine then to the rectum then to the anus.
• digest is the break down of large food particules into smaller souble particules.
• mechanical digestion occurs when food is physically broken down by the teeth
• chemical digestion occurs when enzymes break down larger food molecules into smaller souble molecules
• an enzyme is a chemical found in cells. it speeds up the chemical reactions.
• peristals is a musclar movement that only occurs in the muscles of the digestive system.
• Ingestion is intake of food
• absorption is nutrients are absorbed into the blood stream
• Eggestion is the removal of undigestion waste through the anus
• we need food for 3 reasons- energy, growth and repair and keep our bodies at room tempeture ( 37 degrees)
