Plates that slide past each other have passive boundaries. Crust is neither created nor destroyed. These plates are locked together and release huge amounts of energy when they slide past each other. They can cause earthquakes and fault lines e.g San Andreas Fault Line formed when the pacific plate and North American Plate slid past each other.
