  toy car attached to a piece of string, the string is looped around a pulley and the other end of the string is attached to a 100g mass, the mass is the force upon the car, and a timer
• method

  1. draw chalk lines at equal intervals, e.g. every 10cm
  2. hold the car at the starting point, when ready let go of car, as there is a resultant force acting through the string car will accelerate along the bench.

  1. record time the car takes to pass each distance marker - if car is moving rapidly it will be difficult to record an accurate time, we should record using iPhone, then play video back and record accurate time 2. 4. repeat experiment several times, each time reducing mass on end of spring, the force is decreasing each time, when we take away mass from end of spring we have to transfer mass to toy car to keep mass of object constant and experiment faire.
