  • what is the English Institute of sport
    the EIS is a national institute of sport which has a network of high performance centres across England providing a range of services to elite performers.
  • The EIS and UK sport
    The EIS is a subsidiary of UK sport and wholly owned by that organisation. It receives £40 million over four years from UK sport and generates its own income by providing services to NGBs such as performance analysis and sports medicine. E.g., in 2012 London Olympics NGBs invested £6.1 million in EIS services to help and support elite performer development.

    The EIS is UK Sport’s science, medicine and technology arm (e.g., via research and innovation programme), which acts as the team behind many of Team GB’s most successful Olympians and Paralympians.     EIS operates World Class Performance environments via no. of high performance centres, & numerous other training bases across England. Partner sites include the Team GB Intensive Rehabilitation Unit at Bisham Abbey, as well as the Holme Pierrepont National Water sports Centre in Nottingham.
