In the 1950s, African-Americans did not want to deal with racism anymore and formed the CivilRights Movement. MartinLuther King was the leader of the association and promoted non-violent protest, which used media to highlight discrimination.
Major Events:
1955 - Montgomery Bus Boycott; Rosa Parks refused to get out of her seat in a public bus. Led to many protests and the desegregation of public buses.
1957 - Little Rock, Arkansas; armed troops were sent in an all-white high school to protect 9 black students.
1963 - 250k Americans listened to MLK's speech of a racially equal America.
