The water cycle

Cards (4)

  • Evaporation
when the sun heats water in seas/lakes/rivers or plants and trees and turns into water vapour
  • Condensation
Water rises into air and cools. Water vapour condenses into tiny droplets forming clouds. winds blow clouds to land
  • Precipitation
When so much water has condensed the air can’t hold it anymore. Clouds get heavy and water falls back on earth in the form of rain, hail, sleet or snow
  • Run-off
Water falling as precipitation may fall onto land or sea. if it lands on land it will either soak in the soils and become part of groundwater for plants and animals to drink or it may run-off the soils into oceans/seas etc.the cycle repeats itself
