The Brain

• The cerebrum is essentially the whole brain.
• The corpus callosum is a wide band of nerve fibres connecting the two hemispheres.
• The cerebellum lies under the rear end of the cerebrum and controls posture, balance and the fine coordination of voluntary muscle movement.
• The cerebral cortex is involved in thinking, learning, memory, intelligence and reasoning.
• The medulla oblongata is a continuation of the spinal cord.
