  • Coughing removes the irritant from the lower respiratory tract.
  • Sneezing expels irritants in the nasal cavity.
  • Vomiting is the contraction of the muscles in the abdomen and the diaphragm which remove bacterial toxins.
  • Diarrhoea is where an irritant from the intestines causes contractions of the muscles inside the intestines. Material does not stay in the large intestines long enough for water to be absorbed.
