    • Information Processing
Information processing is where you make decisions based on gathering information (stimuli) from your senses, such as what you see and hear.
You prioritise the most important stimuli to make a suitable decision
    • Input
The information received from the display (your senses) via selective attention
    • Decision making -

The selection of an appropriate response using the information 'input' and that stored in long term memory
    • Output-

Information you send to your muscles to carry out the response
    • Feedback-
A review of your response; this can be from yourself (intrinsic) and/or others (extrinsic)
    • Information processing in sport -
Input: See player throw tennis ball high to serve
Decision making: Based on what you see and past experience, decide whether to move
Output: Move to be ready to return the ball
Feedback: Was too far forward and return was unsuccessful
    • Selective attention
Focusing on the important information (stimuli). When completing skills there can be a lot of information (stimuli) around you. You have very little time to select relevant information (such as speed of a ball) and ignore the irrelevant (noise nearby)
