  • -Adrenaline is a hormone that is released from adrenal gland.
-Very little adrenaline is released in the blood stream in normal conditions.
-Adrenaline is responsible for fight or flight response in animals. It helps your body respond when you are excited or in danger.
  • -Adrenaline occurs in a frightening or exciting situation. This causes an increase in impulses from the neurones reaching the adrenal glands which triggers the release of large amount of adrenaline.
  • Effect of Adrenaline
1)The heart contracts more strongly and beats faster ->more blood flow->more glucose and energy transported to respiring cells.
2)more glucose is released in into the blood(liver)->more glucose available for respiration to release energy.(Glycogen is converted to glucose
  • Effect of Adrenaline
3)Blood flow is increased to the muscles->more oxygen and glucose delivered to the muscles for respiration
4)Blood flow is reduced to other organs->Less oxygen and glucose is wasted on other organs which are not needed for the fight or flight response.
