body temperature

Cards (7)

  • an increase in body temperature during exercise is due to an increase in muscle contraction and respiration
  • skin temperature can decrease due to sweating, this is because there is evaporation of the sweat which cools the skin
  • the body responds to decreasing blood glucose concentration by having the pancreas detect low blood glucose, having it produce glycogen, and converting this glycogen into glucose
  • if body temperature is too high, blood vessels supplying skin capillaries dilate, so more blood can flow nearer the surface to lose more heat
  • if body temperature is too low, blood vessels supplying skin capillaries constrict, so less blood flows nearer the surface of the skin to lose less heat
  • energy drinks have lots of ions in them to replace ions lost via sweating
  • people are recommended to not drink too much energy drink because there is too much glucose
