  • This requires energy from respiration
• Active transport differences from diffusion:

  1. Particles are moved against the concentration gradient rather than down
  2. Active transport does require energy from respiration unlike diffusion
• • Lumen of small intestine, sugars carried into the cell by active transport
  • Active transport used to move ions into root hair cells
