• for germination to occur, there must be :

  water , oxygen , and warmth
• the cotyledon is where food is stored
• the seed coat is the outer layer that protects the embryo
• root hairs increase surface area so more water can be absorbed
• the root hair cells are responsible for absorbing water from soil
