• Method

  • Collecting eggs from the ovaries and fertilising them in a lab with the sperm
  • Fertilised eggs are then grown into embryos in a lab
  • They are then re-transferred into the womans uterus to improve the chance of pregnancy
  • FSH and LH are given before egg collection to stimulate several eggs to mature
• Advantages

  • Give an infertile couple a child
• Disadvantages

  • Multiple births can happen
  • Success rate is low
  • Can cause physical pain
