Protein Synthesis

  1. transcription - base sequence of gene is copied into a complementary template molecule - mRNA
  2. mRNA is a single-stranded molecule
  3. it passes out of nucleus into the cytoplasm
  4. translation- mRNA molecule attaches to a ribosomes
  5. AMAC are brought to the ribosomes on carrier molecules called tRNA
  6. ribosomes reads the triplets of bases on the mRNA
  7. they use this to join together the correct AMAC in correct order
  8. once protein chain is completed it folds into its unique shape which allows the protein to do its job
