• Arteries-carry blood away from heart, thick elastic fibres, small lumen, carry blood under high pressure
• Veins-carry blood towards the heart, thin elastic fibres ,large lumen, to carry blood under low pressure, valves prevent backflow of blood
• Capillary-one cell thick->short diffusion time -small lumen->slow down movement of substances so more time for diffusion
