Financial implications
Aims to bring down the
numbers
of people in prison by stopping them from committing more
crimes.
For every £1 spent on
restorative
justice,it saves £8 due to less money spent in prisons, courts and
police.
Money for the programme comes from
fines
paid by the offenders,so saves a lot of money for the
community
Wider approach in the community
a
good
programme involves the
whole
community.
'Peace circles'
are one-way communities with high levels of violence and
crime
have tried to do this.
A
respectful
environment where the community
supports
victims and helps offenders.
Everyone sits in a circle and pass around a 'talking piece' also a
keeper
to ensure everyone
respects
each other
