Metals and Acids

• metal + acid --> salt + hydrogen
• How do you test for hydrogen?

• calcium + water --> calcium hydroxide + hydrogen
• Copper cannot displace magnesium and magnesium sulfate because copper is less reactive.
• Magnesium can displace zinc from its solution but not the other way round as magnesium is more reactive than zinc.
