Simplifying Algebraic Expressions

• Variables:

  the letters used in Algebra [x, y, z...]
• Terms:

  what's separated between pluses and minuses
• The coefficient:

  The number in front of the variable
• Write out the expression '14 less than the total t':

  t-14
• how many terms are in the expression?:

  4p + 8q -2
• Simplifying expressions with like variables:

  Add or subtract the coefficients together and keep the variable
• like terms:

  terms with the same variables
• Constant term:

  A term without a variable next to it
