  • Two models of criminal justice are due process model and crime control model
  • The crime control model has the aim to protect victims and society from criminals
  • Crime control - police have the duty to stop and catch these criminals as quickly as possible. I’m bringing them to court for punishment.
  • Crime control - it’s described as a conveyor belt this is because it is a smooth and fast paced process to get those criminals off the streets to protect the public
  • Crime control - we know crime interferes with peoples freedom and smooth harmony of society. It states that the police and overall law agencies should have the freedom as trusted professionals to persure those who have thought to be guilty.
  • Crime control – Due to them pursuing those to be thought guilty, it is considered as a risk worth taking
  • Crime control – it can lead to innocent people being caught up in the system this lead to a miscarriage of justice
  • Crime control – examples of rules in our criminal justice system is a police stop and search from this. It provides public safety and reassurance of the police doing their job properly and efficiently by creating a safer community.
  • The due process model focuses on the aim of protecting the rights of the offender in the face of the law which the state might oppress them
  • The due process model approaches a suspect by treating them innocent until proven guilty
  • Due process – due to the model focusing on the offender it states the police and other law agencies should be restrained and guided by the rules and regulations to protect the rights of the individual
  • Due process model – the model is described as an obstacle course due to all the procedures defendant must go through insure is done fairly and misconduct has taken place
  • Do you process model – however the price worth paying of the models that some guilty individuals will go free due to technicality
  • Due process – overall the model is supported by left realism. This is because it states that we should focus on the offenders rehabilitation rather than their punishment.
  • Due process – left realism supports as they believe people turn to crime not due to rationality but because they are obliged to commit crime due to relative deprivation this is because they compare their skills to people with much higher wealth and education status then they will ever have
