ferns are at their most diverse and
abundant
in the worlds tropical rainforests, the
warm
and humid ecosystem is perfect for these plants
mosses
and ferns grow on the forest floor and can survive on low levels of
sunlight
they have
frond leaves
that have a large surface area to maximise
photosynthesis
they lack flowers and seeds and reproduce via
spores
instead which is useful in the
rainforest
to reduce energy loss
the leaves have
slits
in so that water can drip down and does not collect on the
leaves
and break them
