Stage 1:
Sedimentation
Water is stored in a
large tank
or
reservoir.
Allows large
insoluble
particles (sand, stones, leaves) to settle to the
bottom.
Water is then
siphoned
from the top to the
second
stage.
Stage 2:
Filtration
Small insoluble particles which don’t
dissolve
are removed passing the water through
sand
filter beds.
Stage 3:
Chlorination
Water is sterilised by adding
chlorine
to kill
bacteria
(microorganism).
Makes
safe
to drink.
After water is treated, its then
stored
to be distributed to
homes
and businesses needed.
