  • Stage 1:
    Sedimentation
    • Water is stored in a large tank or reservoir.
    • Allows large insoluble particles (sand, stones, leaves) to settle to the bottom.
    • Water is then siphoned from the top to the second stage.
  • Stage 2:
    Filtration
    • Small insoluble particles which don’t dissolve are removed passing the water through sand filter beds.
  • Stage 3:
    Chlorination
    • Water is sterilised by adding chlorine to kill bacteria (microorganism).
    • Makes safe to drink.
    • After water is treated, its then stored to be distributed to homes and businesses needed.
