  • Eid Al-Fitr is celebrated at the end of Ramadan, to thank God for supporting Muslims during Ramadan and to celebrate a successful fast. Muslims celebrate Eid Al-Fitr by going out the night before to see the new moon to confirm the end of Ramadan. In the morning, they wear good clothes and go to the mosque to pray. They decorate their houses, visit friends and relatives and give presents.
  • Eid Al-Adha is celebrated at the end of the Hajj, to commemorate Abraham when he was told to sacrifice his son by God as a test of his faith. Abraham agreed and passed the test, and was told to sacrifice a lamb instead. Muslims celebrate Eid Al-Adha by going to the mosque for morning prayer, and the imam may recall the story of Abraham being tested. Food is shared with the poor and donations are given to charity. Families eat meals together and people visit friends. Gifts and cards are exchanged. It lasts for four days.
