  • To test for starch
    Add a drop of iodine on pasta
    • Colour change was brown to black.
  • To test for reducing sugar (glucose)

    Dissolved in little water and added to Benedict’s solution in a test tube.
    • Benedicts solution was also added to water ( control )
    • both heated.
    • Positive test: Blue to brick red
  • To test for fats/lipids
    Oil on brown paper and let it dry.
    • water on brown paper and let it dry.
    • Translucent spot forms on the brown paper when the oil dries
    • Nothing on the brown paper with water
  • To test for protein
    Pour milk into the buiret solution
    • Pour water into buiret solution.
    • Result: Colour change of blue to purple.
