    tried out PECS to help children with ASD improve speech
    the 3 children in the study had a hard time speaking and already tried other programmes
  • The children used PECS for 2 15 min sessions each week
  • After using PECS children started to speak more on their own
  • One child went from speaking 28% of the time to speaking all the time without being prompted
  • The improvements didnt disappear over time,even a year later,they were still doing well
  • Children made better eye-contact,paying attention to others and had fewer trantrums
  • Shows PECS is effective and quick and easy
  • Skills learnt can be handy in all situations
