  8 experiments with 18 children,3 group studies with 160 children(95 using PECS and 65 in a control group)
• Shown that PECS was fairly effective to help children with ASD communicate better,it can get them to communicate more
• Not certain if improvements last
• Improvements on speaking on their own was small and sometimes made speech worse
• PECS may cause delayed speech development
