  Melted thermoplastics forced into a mould using high pressure

  Casing on electrical products e.g

  Computers , TVs, Vacuum cleaners
• How is Injection moulding carried out


  1.Theemoplastic granules poured into hopper

  2.Screw thread rotated by motor, pulls granules through chamber, past electrical heaters

  3.Heaters melt polyer

  4. Sufficient charge of polymer melted, hydraulic ram forces screw thread forward, injects molten polymer into mould

  5.Mould is water cooled, molten polymer hardens quickly

  6.Mould opens and ejector pins push moulding out

  7.Excess polymer trimmed off. Jigs/formers used to maintain dimensional accuracy
