    • Being overweight can affect ovulation which can affect fertility and make fertility treatments less likely to work.
    • Being underweight can affect periods and ovulation which both affect fertility.
  • Weight in Men
    Being overweight or underweight may affect the quality and quantity of sperm.
  • Smoking
    Affects a woman’s fertility and lowers a man’s sperm count it can also cause a higher proportion of abnormal sperm.
  • Drinking Alcohol
    Can lower quality and quantity of sperm in men and affects a woman’s fertility
  • Taking Recreational Drugs
    Can cause permanent problems to reproductive systems and cause infertility
  • Taking folic acid (women)
    Helps prevent neural tube defects such as spina bifida.
    Women are advised to take 400 mcg of folic acid per day until the 12th week of pregnancy.
  • Up to date immunisations
    Immunisations can be passed from the mother to the baby.
