Muscles and Bones

• • Muscles are tissues that contract and relax to allow movement
• • There are three types of muscles,skeletal,cardiac and smooth
• skeletal muscles are attached to bones by tendons which allow voluntary movement
• • cardiac muscles are found in the heart which allow heart contractions
• • Smooth muscles are located in various organs and control involuntary movements like digestion
• • Bones form the skeletal system
• • Bones perform many functions such as supporting and protecting various organs,allow movement and produce blood cells.
• • the human body contains 206 bones which are long bones(femur),short bones(carpals),flat bones(skull) and irregular bones(vertebrae)
• • Muscle attachment to bones is allowed by tendons
