Leukocyte Pathology

• leukemia - cancer of WBC forming portion of red bone marrow, results in large number of abnormal and immature WBCs circulating in bloodstream
• leukocytosis - too many WBCs
• leukopenia - too little WBCs
• lymphocytic leukemia - type of leukemia where the abnormal WBCs are lymphocytes
• myeloid leukemia - type of leukemia where the abnormal WBCs are granulocytes
• thrombocytopenia - too few platelets
• thrombocytosis - too many platelets
