  • visking tubing is a fine smooth membrane with small holes in it - these holes are large enough to allow water and other small molecules through - too small to allow large molecules through
    • set up boiling tube and 4 test tubes in a rack
    • set out dimple tile, with dropper bottles of iodine solution and Benedict's reagent in work area
    • use syringes to put 5cm3 of starch suspension and 5cm3 of glucose solution into model gut
    • rinse outside of visking tubing under the tap and then suspend it in boiling tube
