Characteristics of a planet

• Planets- round and opaque, rotate around its own axis, revolve around the sun, not self luminous
• Pluto- no longer considered as a planet since 2006 (its only a dwarf planet)
• venus- is the hottest planet because venus has a thick atmosphere
• mercury- closest to the sun
• earth- "blue planet" majority of earth is water. (water is source of life)
• mars- the red planet (smaller than the earth) only planet where scientist found remains of ice
• Jupiter- "great red spot" always has hurricane
• mars- pink sky
• A planet has twice the mass of Earth and the same radius as Earth. If you were standing on this planet, the force of gravity would be...- twice that on earth
