• 1. write the numbers that u r about then add an estimate number
  2. only estimate one digit
  3. add +/_ 0.01 or whatever place ur estimate number is (+/- 1,10,0.1,0.01,0.001)
  4. SF is not about importance it about precison
• Zero's

  • all non zero digits are significant
  • zero is NEVER significant IF BEFORE the 1st NON zero digit
  • zero in the middle of a number is ALWAYS significant
  • zero AFTER the last non zero number is significant in a decimal number ex: 200. - 3 SF
• rounding x and /

  • round ur number to the lowest number of SF (from initial #)
  • ex: 2.39 - 3SF x 5.003-4SF = 11.9577
  • lowest SF is 3
  • 12.0 =3SF
• rounding +/-

  • round ur answer to the lowest of decimal
  • ex: 2.39 - 2 + 5.003 -3
