  Glycoprotein -Acts as a surface receptor for specific chemicals such as hormones and neurotransmitters
• Functionof Glycolipids

  Glycolipids -Cell surface receptor for specific chemicals and helps maintain stability of membrane (unlike glycoproteins)
• Functionof Cholesterol

  Cholesterol -keeps membrane mechanically stable and fluid -decreases fluidity when high temp to stop breaking

  -Makes barrier more complete so substances like water can't easily pass through
• Functions of channel protein (+carrier proteins)

  Channel protein -Form water filled tubes to allow water soluble ions to diffuse across CSM by facilitated diffusion- small charged e.g ions

  Carrier proteins bind to larger molecules like glucose and amino acids and the protein changes shape to allow facilitated diffusion of larger molecules - often requires ATP
